Rachel’s Children Home was started in 2004 owing to the rapid rise in the number of orphans left behind by parents who died of HIV/AIDS and other related diseases. We are hosting 35 girls with the aim of expanding to support more children as soon as funds are available.
The Project provides the children with basic needs such as medical care, education and psycho social support.
In efforts to raise funds to address the needs of these orphans, Rachel’s Children’s Home is organizing a Charity Marathon from Thika town to Mwea Village in Gatundu on Saturday 14th June 2008. Among the urgent needs of the Home are, medical care and food for the children, School fees for five girls joining high school next year and furniture for the dining room and the guest house.
The objective of the Marathon therefore will be to fundraise for the Children while commemorating the Day of the African Child 2008.
We have invited over two thousand children from other homes and schools to participate in the planned activities. We have also invited
popular Kenyan artists to entertain the children and their parents.
Club Kiboko of KTN and KBC’s Kidz Unlimited and Citizen TV will conduct a recording of the children’s activities while print media houses have promised equal publicity for the event to ensure maximum success.
Rachel’s Children’s Home will put in place maximum media publicity plans that will promote the event to achieve the desired results. All the sponsors will be acknowledged in all the publicity media used to promote the event
We take this opportunity to invite you to support the activity by donating food, refreshments and prizes for the children winning different competitions to make the event a success.
